BUSINESS
Seventeen years ago, award-winning, Wakefield-born entrepreneur Adeem Younis founded what is now one of the UK’s largest Muslim websites, SingleMuslim.com.
Adeem 36 and a father-of-four, launched his first business, GoWebPrint, whilst studying graphic design at Wakefield College but it was friends at college that inspired SingleMuslim.com. The idea of a Muslim match-making agency came about because it is difficult to meet suitable marriage partners in a safe and respectable environment.
Today, the site boasts over two million users worldwide and has led to over 50,000 marriages, approximately 5 every single day. Muslim spending power in the UK is considerable and worth around £1m locally. Despite his huge success, Adeem has stayed loyal to his home city of Wakefield, owning offices on Wood Street, with expansion plans on Balne Lane where he owns substantial premises.
